Dermis
The dermis is the layer below the epidermis and above the hypodermis. It is made of collagen and elastic fibres, which give the skin its resistance and elasticity. It also functions as a moisture-replenishment reservoir due to the presence of water-trapping molecules: GAGs (glycosaminoglycans).
